Russian scrap association opposes extending export duty
Russian scrap metal association Ruslom says it opposes the extension of the export quota for scrap until the end of 2022, as well as the high export duty, saying this would force exporters to work at a loss.
Ruslom says demand for ferrous scrap in Russia could drop by 43% this year compared to 2021 and estimates a possible shortfall in revenue at scrap collectors of RUB 64 billion ($1.1 billion), Kallanish notes.
