Russia ramps up steel, pipe output in 2023
Russia increased steel production in December, according to data from domestic analytical company Chermet.
The country’s steelmakers produced 6.3 million tonnes of crude steel and 5.5mt of rolled products, up 9.2% year-on-year and 11.7% y-o-y respectively, Kallanish notes.
In full-year 2023, steel production increased by 5.9% on-year to 75.8mt and rolled metal by 5.8% to 65.6mt.
