Russia expects stainless deficit on reduced Chinese production
Russia’s imports of stainless steel scrap increased in January-August and the main supplier was again China, says national special steel association USSA. However, reduced Chinese exports could see a shortage in the Russian market come year-end.
Russia’s eight-month stainless intake was up 6.5% on-year to 283,210 tonnes, Kallanish notes. In August alone it also increased by 20.1% compared to July to 41,690t.
