Russia expects increased steel demand, scrap collection

Scrap collection in Russia in 2023 amounted to about 25 million tonnes, an increase of 5mt compared to 2022, says Andrey Savelyev, head of the ferrous metallurgy development department at Russia’s Ministry of Industry and Trade. “The development of the scrap industry is largely due to the situation in the steel industry,” he noted during the strategic session at the International Forum Scrap of Ferrous and Non-ferrous Metals in Moscow this week. …
