Russel pulls profit from Q1 despite energy
Toronto, Canada-based service centre chain Russel Metals credits rising flat-rolled steel prices with countering the continued weakness the company sees in the energy sector, Kallanish learns from the company’s first-quarter earnings review.
Russel posted a net profit in Q1 of CAD 8 million ($6.2m) on sales of CAD 662m. In Q1 last year, the company posted a net profit of CAD 19m on sales of CAD 904m.
