Rio Tinto, Baowu reach iron ore shipments milestone
China's Baowu Group has completed 200 million tonnes of iron ore shipments from west Australia, together with Australian miner Rio Tinto. The iron ore was shipped from the Eastern Range mine in the Pilbara area, Kallanish notes.
In 2002, China's Baowu Group and Rio Tinto established the Bao-HI Ranges joint venture to offer iron ore from Australia to China. Rio holds 54% of the JV’s shares, while Baowu holds 46%.
