RINL procures railroad wheels plant to reduce imports
SMS has supplied a production plant for the manufacture of railroad wheels to Indian state-owned steelmaker Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL), Kallanish learns from the technology supplier. Commissioning is scheduled by end-2018.
The unit will produce up to 100,000 wheels/year in diameters of 720-1,200mm. Capacity can later be increased to 200,000 wheels/year. The main customers are Indian railroad repair shops. SMS will provide the equipment, infrastructure,…
