Reduced demand, elevated imports seen pressuring stainless mills
Lower demand and pressure on stainless steel mills’ profitability – caused by elevated imports of finished goods at low prices – have led to significant pressure to cut costs for related raw materials. This is according to Bureau of International Recycling (BIR) stainless steel & special alloys committee chairman Joost Van Kleef.
