Red October reduces gas consumption with furnace upgrade
Russia’s Red October (Krasny Oktyabr) plant has carried out a complete overhaul of the reheating furnace at the large section mill, the company says. This has reduced the consumption of gas by -30%, Kallanish notes.
Plant specialists replaced the water-cooling elements of the furnace, including the support circuits, skid pipes and riders. In addition, the reheating furnace received a new lining.
