Purchasing index dips after 5-month growth streak
US manufacturing sector activity declined in August after five straight months of growth, according to the Institute for Supply Management’s (ISM) purchasing index.
The ISM’s index fell to 49.4% in August, down 3.2 percentage points from July. Index readings above 50% indicate manufacturing growth, Kallanish notes.
