Posco starts building Gwangyang EAF
South Korean steelmaker Posco started construction of a 2.5 million tonnes/year electric arc furnace (EAF) at its Gwangyang plant on 6 February, Kallanish notes.
The total investment of the project is estimated to be KRW 600 billion ($451 million), and the EAF construction is expected to be completed by the end of 2025. Official operation would begin in 2026.
