Paul Wurth almost doubles capacity of JSW furnace
Luxembourg based steel plant and equipment supplier Paul Wurth says that its rebuild of No 1 Blast Furnace at JSW Steel’s Vijayanagar Works in India (see Kallanish 23 February) almost doubled the capacity of the furnace.
The furnace has now an inner volume of volume of 2,307 cubic metres (instead of 1,250 m3) and an increased hearth diameter (enlarged from 8 metres to 10.4 metres). It now also has an increased number of hot blast tuyeres (from 18 to 28). &…
