Oil prices boost steel prospects in MENA
Worldsteel has revised down its forecast for Middle East and North Africa finished steel demand to 4.3% on-year in 2022, giving 68 million tonnes. This compares to the association’s estimate last October of 69.9mt demand for 2022.
Demand in 2021 was at 65.2mt, up 3.2% on 2020. For 2023, the revised forecast indicates 70.3mt, up 3.5% on 2022, worldsteel says in its latest short-range outlook published last week. This means 2022 will see demand return to …
