Nucor to build new Kentucky tube mill
Nucor plans to build a new $164 million tube mill on the campus of its Gallatin sheet mill in Kentucky, Kallanish reports.
Start-up is slated for mid-2023 with a capacity of 250,000 short tons/year of hollow structural sections, mechanical tubing and galvanized solar torque tube.
"With our recent investments to expand capacity at Nucor Steel Gallatin and add a galvanizing line, our Gallatin campus is an ideal location to build our new tube mill," says Nucor ceo Leon Topalian. "The new tube mill will allow us to better serve our customers in the construction, infrastructure and renewable energy markets."
