Nucor awards SMS Brandenburg slab caster maintenance contract
Nucor has awarded SMS a multi-year maintenance contract for its new continuous slab casting machine, currently being installed at the prospective heavy plate mill in Brandenburg, Kentucky.
The US steelmaker ordered the single-strand caster for ultra-wide and thick slab from SMS in 2019 (see Kallanish passim). Commissioning is scheduled for 2022. SMS will begin supporting Nucor with on-site maintenance and pre-commissioning operations in early 2022.
