NSSMC starts up Brunei OCTG plant
Japan’s Nippon Steel and Sumitomo Metal Corporation (NSSMC) says it has begun commercial operations at its new OCTG threading joint venture in the sultanate of Brunei. The plant is expected to supply some 18,000 tonnes/year of threaded OCTG, mainly to Brunei Shell Petroleum (BSP), Kallanish notes.
The $36 million investment in VAM BRN will consume pipes from NSSMC and 10% owner Vallourec Tubes. Vallourec Oil and Gas France owns the trademark to VAM premium…
