NSSMC signs Indian iron ore deal
Japan’s Nippon Steel and Sumitomo Metal Corporation (NSSMC) has signed a deal to purchase iron ore from India’s MMTC Limited, the steelmaker tells Kallanish.
The agreement will see NSSMC buy 1.8-2.6 million tonnes/year of iron ore from the trading company for the next three years. India’s cabinet voted to allow MMTC to sell 3-4.3m t/y of iron ore to Japan for three years at a meeting in June this year, NSSMC notes.
