NSSMC profit recovers as output steady
Japan’s Nippon Steel and Sumitomo Metal Corporation (NSSMC) saw profits jump in the March quarter to JPY 71.5 billion ($640 million). Over the financial year ending March however ordinary profit was still down -9.97% year-on-year at JPY 130.9 billion. A weak first half, when prices were far lower, knocked back its financials despite a very slight increase in output and sales volumes, Kallanish notes.
