NSSMC coke oven restarts after 13 months
The No. 1 coke plant at the Nagoya steelworks of Nippon Steel and Sumitomo Metal Corporation (NSSMC) resumed production at 17.14 local time on 19 October, the steelmaker says. Output had been suspended since a fire had stopped the plant in 2014. The steelmaker is investing heavily in its coking facilities after a series of accidents last year highlighted their age, Kallanish notes.
