North America drives Turkey's January scrap import rise
Turkey's scrap imports rose 10.3% on-year to 1.68 million tonnes in January, thanks to a growth in intake from North America, Kallanish notes from the latest Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) data.
The overall average value/tonne of January's scrap imports increased to $321/t from $257/t a year earlier. The scrap-rebar spread widened to $208/t in January from $169/t a year ago.
