Nippon Steel sees profits squeezed
Japan’s Nippon Steel and Sumitomo Metal Corporation (Nippon Steel) saw output and shipments fairly steady in the first quarter of its financial year starting April 2018. Operating profits were squeezed despite higher steel prices, as it lost money of foreign exchange, inventory valuation and its subsidiary companies, Kallanish notes.
