Nippon foresees weak fiscal second-half domestic steel demand
Japanese domestic steel demand is struggling across various sectors, according to the second quarter (July-September) report of Nippon Steel, monitored by Kallanish.
Overall steel demand in the second half is expected to be up 0.7% half-on-half to 30.46 million tonnes, Nippon Steel says. That would bring demand for the full financial year ending March 2020 to 60.7mt, still down by -2.6% year-on-year.
