Nippon Steel idles sixth blast furnace

Nippon Steel has halted the No.2 blast furnace at its Kyushu plant in south-eastern Japan. The unit has a 1.5 million tonnes/year capacity, Kallanish notes. In total, Nippon Steel has now idled six of its 15 blast furnaces, or about 32% of the inner volume of all BFs.
