Impairment charges hit Nippon Steel earnings
Japan’s Nippon Steel booked heavy losses in the financial year ending March 2020, although that was mainly due to impairment losses at several plants. The company is responding to the slowdown in demand due to the coronavirus, but even before that domestic demand had been sliding, Kallanish notes.
