Nippon Steel denies decision to buy Thai steelmakers
Major Japanese steelmaker Nippon Steel has denied it has made a decision to purchase two Thai electric arc furnace-based steelmakers, G Steel and G J Steel.
Nippon Steel says it is considering participating in this purchase, but has not yet made a final decision, Kallanish notes. The producer aims to reach 100 million tonnes/year of crude steel capacity globally and plans to acquire steel mills in China and ASEAN, it adds. Earlier reports had sugges…
