Nippon Steel delays restart of Nagoya blast furnace
Japan’s largest steelmaker Nippon Steel has decided to delay the restart of the No.3 cubic metre blast furnace at its Nagoya Works in central Japan, due to a slowdown in demand, Kallanish learns.
The BF has been under renovation since the end of January, which cost about JPY 49 billion ($375 million). Nippon planned to see resumption in early June with an increase of the inner volume from 4,300 cubic metres to 4,425cum.
