Nippon Steel commissions new billet caster
Japan's Nippon Steel recently commissioned a new billet caster with 1.7 million tonnes/year of capacity at its Yawata Works, Kallanish notes.
The continuous caster started construction in January 2017 with an investment of JPY 38 billion ($353 million). The billet produced by the new caster is expected to be used to produce special steel bar and rail.
