Nippon Steel commercializes AL-HS automotive sheet production
Japanese steelmaker Nippon Steel has started commercial production of aluminized hot stamped steel sheets (AL-HS steel sheets) at its Yahata Seitetsusho steel plant.
The steel mill processes steel sheets using TWB technology, which joins steel of different thicknesses and strengths into a single sheet by laser welding ahead of hot stamping, Kallanish learns from Nippon's official website. Nippon adds aluminum to the weld to increase weld strength.
