Nippon restarts Kashima blast furnace
Japanese steel producer Nippon Steel has restarted one blast furnace at its Kashima Works in Ibaraki Prefecture, eastern Japan, according to local news agency Jiji Press.
The steelmaker says demand, especially from the automotive sector, has recovered from the impact of Covid-19. The company is now able to restart some of the blast furnaces it had idled in 2020, Kallanish notes.
