Nippon reports profit decline

Japanese steelmaker Nippon Steel’s crude steel production and sales rose on both moth-on-month and year-on-year in the September quarter, the second quarter of its fiscal year 2023. Its revenue hiked as a result, but profits shrank, Kallanish notes. On a non-consolidated basis, Nippon Steel produced 8.76 million tonnes of crude steel in the reporting quarter, up 0.9% on-quarter and over 5% on-year.
