Nippon halts Kimitsu furnace after typhoon

Japan’s Nippon Steel said Wednesday that one of the converters at its Kimitsu steelworks has been halted since Monday after suffering damage from Typhoon Faxai. No restart date has yet been given, Kallanish notes. Typhoon Faxai hit on Monday and caused a chimney for the discharge of waste gases to collapse, Nippon says.
