Stainless demand fall creates nickel oversupply: Eramet
French miner Eramet registered nickel oversupply in the first half of 2020 compared to a strong deficit in H1 2019, due to lower demand and slightly higher output, the firm says.
The average London Metal Exchange (LME) nickel price in H1 totalled $5.65/lb ($12,455/tonne), up 1% on-year. However, given the soft demand for stainless steel, ferronickel sales prices declined by more than -10%. Conversely, the average for nickel ore prices came out at $67.7/wet metric …
