Minnesota governor delivers ultimatum to Essar
Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton has threatened to immediately recall a $66 million loan to Essar Steel Minnesota if the company does not pay its construction vendors on-site at Essar’s planned $1.8 billion taconite facility.
In a statement from the governor’s office, Dayton gives Essar Steel a deadline of close-of-business, 2 December, to pay its Minnesota vendors. Essar Steel missed the previous payment deadline of 31 October, Kallanish notes.
