Mid-East drives Turkey's July welded pipe exports increase
Turkish welded pipe exports grew 53.3% on-year to 143,134 tonnes in July, mainly supported by increased shipments to the Middle East, Kallanish notes from the latest Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) data.
The overall average value/tonne of these exports rose to $718/t from $660/t a year ago, TUIK data calculations show.
Iraq was Turkey's largest welded pipe export destination in July, with a 78.5% y-o-y surge in shipments to 29,447t. The USA ranked second as its intake grew 64.1% to 15,383t. Third was Israel as its procurement soared to 14,349t from 1,441t a year earlier, closely followed by the UK with a jump in imports to 14,167t from 2,309t. Exports to Romania increased 19.2% to 13,543t.
Shipments to Georgia rose 31.8% y-o-y to 8,371t, those to Italy grew 145% to 5,266t and to France went up to 5,102t from 163t a year ago. Exports to Canada and the Netherlands surged to 4,674t and 4,659t respectively from 1,205t and 503t a year earlier.
Deliveries to Germany and Egypt declined -5.6% and -20% respectively y-o-y to 3,269t and 2,895t. Supplies to Belgium and Yemen increased to 2,692t and 2,220t respectively from 846t and 0.3t, same base.
