Mid-East steel output surges, bucking 2022 global trend
Iran, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates and Qatar each increased their crude steel production in 2022. January-December regional output, driven by Iran, surged 7.1% on-year to 43.95 million tonnes versus 41.05mt recorded a year earlier.
In December, Iran and Qatar each increased on-year crude steel output, whilst Saudi Arabia and UAE saw a decline, Kallanish notes.
