Mexico’s January billet production slips
Mexican billet output decreased month-on-month in January, although only slightly. Output also remained weaker compared to a year earlier, Kallanish notes.
According to local statistics institute Instituto Nacional de Estadística y Geografía (Inegi) data, Mexico produced 275,846 tonnes of billet during the month. This was a fall of just 0.3% over December but 33,231t less compared to the same period in 2022.
