MENA's September steel output slumps driven by Iran
Combined crude steel output across Iran, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, and Qatar shrank 35.7% on-year in September to 2.24 million tonnes, driven mainly by Iran's 51.4% on-year production slump, according to the latest worldsteel data.
The decline could be interpreted as slow steel markets in each of these countries, with electricity outages in Iran also hampering steel output drastically, Kallanish notes.
