Lower sales drive down Kobe Steel profit
Japanese steel producer Kobe Steel saw sales and profit decline under the hit of lower steel output in April-December 2020. A rebound in the automotive and semi-conductor industries has now boosted the company's expectations, Kallanish notes.
During the first nine months of the financial year ending March 2021, Kobe Steel produced and sold 4.13 million tonnes and 3.38mt of crude steel, respectively, down 0.87mt and 0.66mt year-on-year.
