China steel industry losses shrink sharply
The Chinese steel industry’s earnings woes continued in April, but overall losses shrank sharply because of rebounding prices, according to a monthly report released by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) on Monday.
Over January-April, the industry’s income decreased 4.2% year-on-year to CNY 2.59 trillion ($358 billion). Meanwhile, a loss of CNY 22.22 billion was recorded, compared with a gain of CNY 390 million a year earlier, Kallanish notes.
