US line pipe prices again trended up in May, according to analyst Pipe Logix. 

Average pricing rose by 7.6% on-month to $2,035/short ton. Domestic pricing rose 7.4% to $2,265/st, while import pricing rose 7.8% to $1,805/st. 

Pipe Logix notes that this is the eighth consecutive month of price increases.

“All distributors expect prices to continue to increase in the near-term and most are experiencing increased order volume,” Pipe Logix says. “Hot rolled coil prices continue to surge, up 150% since the start of 2020.  Reported shipments of line pipe are estimated to have been 83,000 tons in April, down from the previous month but on par with the trailing 12-month average.”
