Latin America’s trade deficit narrows sequentially in May
Latin America saw its steel trade deficit slightly narrow month-on-month in May to 2.04 million tonnes, almost 1.7% less over April. It was, however, 94.9% wider year-on-year, Kallanish notes.
This was the second-highest monthly deficit for over five years and only the second one after April to exceed 2mt, according to steelmakers’ association Alacero.
