Latin America steel trade deficit continues narrowing
Latin America saw its steel trade deficit narrow on-month in September 2021 to 1.52 million tonnes, almost 14.8% less over August. It was, however, 90.6% wider on-year, Kallanish notes.
Steel production and consumption should remain high in the coming months, with high levels of intra-regional trade, according to steelmakers’ association Alacero. The positive outlook is well supported by a growth in exports.
