LatAm finished steel trade deficit widens in 2021
Latin America saw its steel trade deficit narrow in December 2021 to 1.19 million tonnes, a fall of almost 29.6% over November and 20.1% less year-on-year, according to steel producers' association Alacero.
In full-year 2021 the regional finished steel trade deficit nevertheless widened 63.5% on-year to 19.86mt, mainly as a result of the recovery of trade flows after Covid-19 lockdowns, Kallanish notes.
