Kyoei buys stake in Vietnam-Italy Steel

Japan’s Kyoei Steel bought 20% of Vietnam-Italy Steel on 7 November through its local subsidiary Kyoei Steel Vietnam, it says. The deal will secure billet supply to Kyoei’s revived rebar mill project in northern Vietnam, Kallanish notes. The JPY 1.9 billion ($16.61 million) investment means the former controlling shareholder, Thai Hung Trading will see its share in the minimill drop to around 45%.
