Kobe Steel raises forecasts after Q2 earnings growth
Japan’s Kobe Steel reported an increase in its revenue and profits for the second quarter of the calendar year. This was in contrast to the falling profits of other Japanese steelmakers such as JFE and Nippon Steel.
In Q2, Kobe Steel recorded 1.57 million tonnes of crude steel output, down just 20,000t year-on-year, Kallanish notes. Meanwhile, quarterly sales volume declined 5.6% to 1.19mt.
