Kobe Steel considers adding an electric arc furnace
Japanese steelmaker Kobe Steel is considering an electric arc furnace to replace a blast furnace at its Kakogawa Plant in western Japan, Kallanish learns.
"We don't know what our final steelmaking structure will be, but we should make considerations to move to a scheme with one blast furnace and one electric furnace," Kobe Steel president Yoshihiko Katsukawa told Reuters on Monday.
