Kobe Steel boosts blast furnace efficiency
Japan’s Kobe Steel has been trialling a new processes at its Kakogawa plant to improve blast furnace efficiency using basic oxygen furnace slag. It says the new approach can reduce both the thickness of the slag layer in the blast furnace and the need for coke, thereby reducing ironmaking costs, Kallanish notes.
