Japanese scrap prices head south
Japanese scrap prices are sliding in the Japanese domestic market as well as in South Korea and Vietnam, Kallanish notes.
South Korea’s Hyundai Steel lowered its bid price for Japanese scrap on Thursday. In its purchase auction, the leading EAF operator bid H2 and H1/H2 50:50 scrap at JPY 33,000/tonne ($296/t) and JPY 33,500/t respectively.
