Japanese scrap prices firm
Kanto Tetsugen's latest monthly export tender for Japanese scrap from Tokyo Bay reflects a slight price increase, Kallanish notes.
Toyota Tsusho secured a 15,000-tonne cargo at JPY 34,860/tonne ($314/t) fas for H2 grade scrap in the scrap grouping's 9 August tender. This is JPY 530/t higher than last month’s tender award price of JPY 34,330/t and the latest award price is equivalent to around JPY 35,860/t fob.
