January raw materials' price weakness impacts longs: Assofermet
Italian steel trade association Assofermet registered a lowering of international and domestic scrap offers in January. A similar contraction was noted in domestic pig iron prices due to the arrivals of a high quantity of imported material at Italian ports.
Prices for pig iron for foundries however, did not slide as much as did pig iron prices for steel mills despite the wide availability, the association says in a note sent to Kallanish.
